a) Chromosome = a threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information in the form of genes.

b)Gene = a unit of heredity which is transferred from a parent to offspring and is held to determine some characteristic of the offspring.

c) DNA = deoxyribonucleic acid, a self-replicating material which is present in nearly all living organisms as the main constituent of chromosomes. It is the carrier of genetic information.

d) Genetically modified crops = are plants used in agriculture, the DNA of which has been modified using genetic engineering methods. In most cases, the aim is to introduce a new trait to the plant which does not occur naturally in the species.

e) Coelom = the principal body cavity in most animals, located between the intestinal canal and the body wall.

f) Notochord = a cartilaginous skeletal rod supporting the body in all embryonic and some adult chordate animals.
