Answer:

There are three kinds of rock: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.

Igneous rocks form when molten rock (magma or lava) cools and solidifies. Sedimentary rocks originate when particles settle out of water or air, or by precipitation of minerals from water. They accumulate in layers. Metamorphic rocks result when existing rocks are changed by heat, pressure, or reactive fluids, such as hot, mineral-laden water. Most rocks are made of minerals containing silicon and oxygen, the most abundant elements in the Earth’s crust.

#There are three kinds of rock:

( 1 ) Igneous rocks :

We define igneous rocks as the kind which form when molten rock cools down to a solid-state. Molten rock refers to the rock which liquefies due to intense heat and pressure. Further, lava is the molten rock which flows out of fissures or vents at volcanic centres.

( 2 ) Sedimentary rock :

Sedimentary rocks are formed by the deposition and subsequent cementation on the material at the Earth's surface within the bodies of water. These rocks are formed in four ways: Deposition of weathered remains of other rocks. Accumulation and the consolidation of sediments.

( 3 ) Metamorphic rocks :

Metamorphic rocks are the rocks that get formed under great heat and pressure. Igneous and sedimentary rocks, when subjected to heat and pressure, get transformed into metamorphic rocks.
