Answer: There are two types of current in our present world:

1. AC Current [Alternating Current]

2. DC Current [Direct Current]

Starting with DC Current,

It is a type of Current which moves in only one direction without changing the polarity. DC Current can be found in all types of cells, batteries but is not used in our household appliances like: Light, Washing Machine, Refrigerator etc. The Current we draw from batteries, cells and with which we turn on the diodes is Direct Current.

Coming to AC Current,

It is a type of Current which moves in more than one direction and thus, polarity continuously changes which is measured in Hz. AC Current is the current that comes in our house and by which we use our appliances. They're absent in batteries and are converted to AC in case of inverters.

Hope this helps.
