The androecium is the male reproductive whorl of the flower. It is composed of stamens. Each stamen consists of filament, anther and connective.

It is the microsporophyll consisting of anther lobes or pollen sacs. The pollen sacs are grooved longitudinally along the ventral face of the anther forming the pollen chambers. Each pollen chamber is a microsporangium and contains numerous pollens or microspores.
