Birsa Munda is a folklore hero belong to munda tribe, freedom fighter and proclaimed himself as a messenger of god. He lived for 25 years but his achievements are very impressive and thats why he is still remembered now in modern Bihar and Jharkhand.
British Raj keen on occupying irrigation lands from tribal people via agrarian system and also intensified the conversion of tribal people to their primary religion. Birsa Munda responded with series of revolts against the British Raj to tackle down the agrarian system and cultural change. Tribal people actively participated with Birsa to show their agitation to British Raj. This movement initiated by Birsa and gradually faded after his death.
Indian Government honored him by displaying his portrait in central hall of parliament.!
