Bones:

A bone is a rigid tissue that constitutes part of the vertebrate skeleton in animals. Bones protect the various organs of the body, produce red and white blood cells, store minerals, provide structure and support for the body, and enable mobility. Bones come in a variety of shapes and sizes and have a complex internal and external structure. They are lightweight yet strong and hard, and serve multiple functions.

function:

The human skeleton performs six major functions: support, movement, protection, production of blood cells, storage of minerals, and endocrine regulation.

Bone: Bone is the substance that forms the skeleton of the body. It is composed chiefly of calcium phosphate and calcium carbonate. It also serves as a storage area for calcium, playing a large role in calcium balance in the blood.

The 206 bones in the body serve several other purposes. They support and protect internal organs (for example, the skull protects the brain and the ribs protect the lungs). Muscles pull against bones to make the body move. Bone marrow, the soft, spongy tissue in the center of many bones, makes and stores blood cells.

Skull skeleton consists of 29 bones which can be classified into four groups

1.Cranium- It consists of 8 bones including frontal (1), Parietal (2), Temporal (2), Occipital (1), Ethmoid (1) and finally Sphenoid (1).

2. Facial - It consists 14 bones including Vomar (1), Mandible (1), Maxilla (2), Malar (2), Nasal (2), Lacrimal (2), Palatine (2) and Inferior Turbinals (2).

3. Ear Ossicles- It consists of three - three bones in both ears of humans that are Malleous(2), Incus (2) and Stapes (2).

4. Hyoid - It is U-shaped bond.

Extra Information

• Lower jaw is made up of mandible which is largest, strongest and movable bone of skull.

• Upper jaw is made up of maxilla and palatine bone.

• Cranium is made up of a 8 flat membranous bone which are connected by white fibrous connective tissue.

• Cranium immovable Fibrous joint which are known as suture.
