Peninsular Plateau Peninsular rocks contain most of the reserves of coal, metallic minerals, mica non ferrous mineral and non-metallic minerals.
Gujarat and Assam Sedimentary rocks in Gujarat and Assam have most of the petroleum deposits.
Rajasthan It has reserves of many non-ferrous minerals.
Northern Plains There is very little or no economic minerals in vast alluvial plains of North India.
The economic activity of extraction of minerals from below the earth's surface is called mining.
