i) Primary sex organs - \impliesPrimary sex organ is a pair of testes ( singular testis ).

\impliesThey are present in same pouch called scrotum , present in extra abdominal cavity.

\impliesScrotum has temperature 1 - 3 lower than body temperature which favours the formation of sperms

Testes produce sperms.

ii) Duct system

  • Vasa efferentia -

\impliesTestis is connected to epididymis through a fine tubule called as vass efferentia.

\impliesThey help in conduction of sperms.

  • Epididymis -

\impliesThey are long tubules which lie compacted along the testis from the upper ends to lower back side.

\impliesIts walls are muscular and glandular to provide or secrete nutritive fluid which provides nourishment to the sperms.

  • Vas deferens

\impliesVass efferentia from epididymis duct finally opens into vas deferens.

  • Ejaculatory duct

\impliesThey are short , straight , muscular tubules, each formed by the union of vas deferens and duct of seminal vesicles.

  • Urethra

\impliesIt arises from urinary bladder forming uriogenital canal.

\impliesIt carries urine , sperm and secretion of seminal vesicles , prostrate and cowper's glands.

  • Penis

\impliesIt is a male copulatory organ which also passes urine.

  • Accessory glands

\impliesThey are three types of glands.

i) Seminal vesicles

ii) Cowper's gland

iii) Prostate gland

\impliesSecretions of this glands provides nourishment and mobility to sperms.

  • Copulatory organ

\impliesPenis is a copulatory organ for the transfer of sperm to female reproductive tract.

\impliesSemen = Sperms + secretion of accessory glands.

  • Ovaries -

Ovary is divided into two parts - outer part is cortex while inner part is medulla.

\impliesCortex is made up of dense connective tissue with reticular fibres and few blood vessels.

\impliesMedulla is made up of less dense connective tissue with elastic fibres numerous blood vessels.

  • A pair of fallopian tubes

\impliesAlso called as oviducts.

\impliesOviduct are the site of fertilisation.

  • Uterus

\impliesIt is large , highly elastic muscular sac specialized for development of embryo.

  • Cervix

\impliesLower narrow carvix that projects into the vagina.

  • Vagina

\impliesIt is a large , median , elastic muscular tube.

\impliesAlso called as birth canal.
