Female reproductive system is more complex as compared to that of males. the complexity of sexual structures in females is due to the fact it accepts sperm from male support their movement up to eggs ,fertilisation and subsequent post fertilisation changes .
females reproductive organs :--
1) Ovaries :- Each human female contains two almond shaped ovaries located in lower part of abdominal cavity near the kidney . each ovary is connected by ligament uterus . ovaries r primary sex organs which perform dual function 1) production of female gametes eggs or ova & 2) secretion of female hormone estrogen nd progesterone.
2) Fallopian tube :- A fallopian tube is about 10-12 cm long muscular tube which carries egg from ovary to uterus nd provide appropriate environment for fertilisation.
3) Uterus :- The uterus is large inverted pear shaped muscular structure that lies behind the bladder . if fertisation take place , the embryo gets attached to wall of uterus nd grows there until birth .
4) Vagina :- This is muscular tube about 7-10 cm long whose walls contain elastic tissue . it is well adapted to receive the male penis during copulation. it is also known as birth canal .
