The heart is a part of the body that is mainly known to pump blood into our body with the help of blood system.

It transfer oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and works to remove carbon dioxide and other unwanted dissolved material.

The blood is taken to the lungs to be purified, which after that it reaches the left half of the heart with the help of part of heart called aorta.

And hence it's transported to different-different parts of living beings body.

Heart plays many important roles in living cycle of living beings. Heart carry the blood to different parts of the body.Our heart also accepts blood from various parts of the body. Inshort, it facilitates the movement of blood in our body.

Our heart is just like the two connected pumps. It receives blood from the lungs and carries it throughout the body. Before each heartbeat, blood enters the heart. And then its muscles shrink and blood reaches the body.

Hence, with all these necessary works of heart, importance of blood can be determined.

❶ Heart the mesodermally derived organ, is situated in the thoracic cavity in between the lungs, slightly tilted to the left.

❷ Heart has size of clenched fist, weight 300 gm. It's triangular superior-broad portion is tilted to the left.

❸ Heart is protected by a double layered bag called Pericardium.

❹ The narrow space between these two membranes is called pericardial cavity, in which pericardial fluid is present.

❺ The heart of man is four chambered. Two relatively small upper chambers called Atria and two larger lower chambers called ventricles.
