The history of agriculture records the domestication of plants and animals and the development and dissemination of techniques for raising them productively. Agriculturebegan independently in different parts of the globe, and included a diverse range of taxa. At least eleven separate regions of the Old and New World were involved as independent centers of origin.

The early man was a nomad. He was a hunt - gatherer. He used to hunt animals and ate them raw or cooked on fire. He also gather fruits, nuts, seeds, leaves, stem, etc. for eating.

Around 10,000 BC, the men settled close to riverbanks and waterbodies, and started farming. Gradually, the man discovered tilling, planting and harvesting the right species of plants and rearing of animals for his needs.
