Jagirdars were the officers who used to look after jagirdars or the shares of land.

- Jagirdars were the officials of kings who were often gifted huge lands as a gift of their service to the empire.
- The land gifted to them was not at all inheritable i.e. their sons/daughters could not own the land gifted to their father/mother.
- Even jagirdars were promoted or demoted on the basis of the work they serve to their kings.
- The jagirdars owning more area of land were dominant over the once having less area of land.
- These dominant jagirdars also enjoyed police jurisdiction.
- Since, these jagirdars were not permanent holders of the land so they wanted to extract more and more revenue from their are of land.
