⇒ Matter is collection of small or tiny particles. Matters is basically anything which occupies mass and space. Particles of matter attract each other. They don't have space between them.

⇒ Example :- Chairs, air, almonds, drinks etc.

⇒ Matter exist in three forms or state namely solid, liquid or a gas.

  • A solid is a state in which matter is characterised by having fixed shape, distinct boundaries, rigidity, incompressibility and fixed volume.
  • The liquid state shows fluidity, low compressibility and no definite boundaries or shape but fixed volume.
  • The gaseous state is characterised by having fluidity, high compressibility, No definite boundary, volume or shape.
