Explain about Nomenclature in organic compounds

NOMENCLATURE :



☆ . Select a longest continous chain which is known aa parent chain of carbon atom .

☆ . Indicate the number to the position of the substitients to get the lowest number .


☆ . If there are two or more atoms substituenta are there in a parent chain then indicate the number the sum of the lowest possible .


☆ . Give priority to triple bond , double bond , single bond when they are present in parent chain .


☆ . If functional groups are present give the priorty to them in order


COOH > COOR > CHO > `C = O > - OH > NH2.

☆ . When two or more substituents are present such substituents are arranged in alphabetical order .
