Osmoregulation is a process that regulates the osmotic pressure of fluids and electrolytic balance in organisms. In animals, this process is brought about by osmoreceptors, which can detect changes in osmotic pressure. Humans and most other warmblooded organisms have osmoreceptors in the hypothalamus.
