Roasting occurs in presence of oxygen while calcination occurs in its abscence.
Smelting is simply melting the metal ore.

Answer:

1) Roasting : It is the process of heating the ore in the presence of excess of air. this method is used in case of sulphide ores. The sulphates are converted into oxides by roasting and SO2 is evolved.

Ex : 2PbS+3O2-->2P6O+2So2

2) Calcination : It is the process of heating the ore in the absence of air. By this processor volatile impurities are removed. The office get decomposed in this process.

3) Smelting : Smelting is a pyrochemical process, in which the ore is mixed with flux and fuel then is strongly heated. During smelting were the impurities in the over react with flux to form slag which is removed. Melting is carried out in especially built furnance known as blast furnace.
