The root system

The root system is that part of the plant which grows below the ground. It consist of roots which absorbs water and minerals from the soil.

Functions of roots.

• It holds the plant to the soil.

• It absorbs water, minerals, from their soil.

• It act as a storage organ of food material in some plants.

• It Blinds the soil together so that it does not get washed away during rains or get blown away by wind.
