Chandra Gupta Vikramaditya was one of the important rulers of the Gupta Dynasty which is called as the 'Golden Age' or the classical age of ancient India. This period (320AD- 415AD) was full of peace and prosperity.
Mahakavi Kalidasa, mathematicians, and Astronomers the great- Aryabhatta Brahmagupta and Varahmihira also the great physician-Dhanvantari lived during this period.
Chandragupta-II who succeeded to the throne in 380 AD had been chosen by his father to succeed him. Like Louis XIV, he considered the empire as a noble inheritance.
Through his conquests, he managed to maintain and even enlarge it. His surname Vikramaditya is still one of the glorious names in Indian history.
