Cleansing action of Soaps and detergents: Most of the dirt is oily in nature and oil does not dissolve in water. The molecule of soap constitutes sodium or potassium salts of long chain carboxylic acids. ... Therefore, it forms emulsion in water and helps in dissolving the dirt r when we wash our clothes.

Samyuktharajendren: Soap is made of hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail.
Samyuktharajendren: Hydrophilic is love with water and fear of water, hydrophobic is fear of water and love with oil stains. So when we use soap to clean oil stain the hydrophilic tail gets stick with those stain. When you beat or rub the cloth with brush after application of soap it gets removed. This is known as saponification reaction.
Samyuktharajendren: Sorry hydrophilic is love with water and fear of oil stains.

Soap is composed by Hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail. hydrophobhic tail moves towards towards dirt and the head project towards water. This, leads to formation og miscelle & thus the dirt can be removed by brushing and rubbing
