it states that stress is directly proportional strain

Stress/Strain= young modulus

samrkshp6vnzx: in the region of elastic limit only..the above condition is valid
AyuVastrakar: i didn't understand
samrkshp6vnzx: in stress strain curve, there are two regions elastic and plastic...in elastic region only the above condition is valid
AyuVastrakar: i m not sure
samrkshp6vnzx: i m sure
AyuVastrakar: ohk

\huge\textbf{Young's Modulus (Y) :}

It is defined as ratio of normal stress with longitudinal strain.

i.e.

Y = \dfrac{Normal\:Strain}{Longitudinal\:stress}

Y = \dfrac{\frac{F}{A}}{\frac{\delta\:L}{L}}

Y = \dfrac{FL}{A\:\delta\:L}

→ Dimension = [M¹L-¹T-²]

→ S.I. unit = N/m²
