\bold{Answer}

_______________
\bold{Xylem}
_______________

☞ Xylem helps in the transportation of water and minerals.

☞Xylem consists of tracheids , vessels , xylem parenchyma and xylem fibres .

☞ Most of the cells are dead and have thick walls .

☞Tracheids and vessels are tubular structures . This allows them to transport water and minerals vertically.

☞The parenchyma stores food and helps in the sideways conduction of water. Fibres are mainly supportive in function.

☞In xylem , movement of water and minerals is always in one \bold{direction} ( uni - directional).

☞Tracheids - Dead

☞Vessels - Dead

☞Xylem parenchyma - living

☞Xylem fibre - Dead
______________
\bold{Phloem}
______________

☞ Phloem helps in translocation of food and hormones.

☞Phloem is made up of four types of elements : Sieve tubes , Companion cells , Phloem fibres and Phloem \bold{parenchyma}.

☞ Most of the cells are living .

☞Sieve tubes are tubular cells with perforated walls.

☞Phloem is unlike xylem in that materials can move in both directions ( multi - directional ).

☞Phloem transports food from leaves to other parts of the plant . Except for phloem fibres , phloem cells are living cells.

☞Sieve tubes - Living

☞Companion cells - Living

☞Phloem parenchyma - Living

☞Phloem fibres - Dead
