When hydrated salts are heated the water content is lost, ie., water of crystallisation is lost and forms powder. Thus, we can say that hydrous salts becomes anhydrous. Also, there might be changes in the colour.
Eg.,
CuSO4 --> CuSO4 + H2O
This is a reversible reaction
