The activity is called electrolysis of water...

In this the following steps takes place :-

1. Two electodes positive and negetive are placed in a mug and is connected to a 6V battery.

2. Then the mug is filled with water and some drops of sulphuric acid is added to increase conductivity.

3. Then electricity is passed and the after some time, there will be bubbles formed on both the electordes.

4. At negetive electrode there will be hydrogen gas and at positive electrode there will be oxygen.

5. We will observe that at negetive electrode more gas will be present as compared to positive electrode because during the break down of water(H2O) 2H molecule is realeased with 1O molecule.

The reaction that will take place will be
H2O --------------------> 2H + O
