Acute diseases:

  • These diseases occur suddenly
  • They last for a shorter period
  • They do not cause damage to the body
  • They are not fatal
  • Eg., common cold, jaundice, typhoid, malaria

Chronic Diseases

  • They occur over a prolonged period.
  • They last longer, even for a lifetime.
  • They damage the body of the patient.
  • Chronic diseases are fatal.
  • Eg., HIV, Elephantiasis, Cancer, Tuberculosis

Explanation:

Acute disease :It is a short duration disease which generally has a relative of course normal activities impaired but only for a few days so the patient recover then begins to lead a normal active life being of short duration and acute diseases unable to cause major effect on health example common cold Malaria typhoid and diarrhoea .

Chronic Disease: it is a long duration disease which generally develop slowly with the middle course in the beginning of the time the patient feels tired all the time there is a shortness of breath .

Example: diabetes.
