An Adjective describes a noun or a pronoun.

Example:-

  • cold winds
  • new book
  • happy face
  • hot milk
  • soft toy

An adjective is often called a describing word because it describes a person, animal or thing. When an adjective is used to compare two or more people or things, er or est is added to it.

Example:-

  • Nina is taller than Rita.
  • Adrian is the tallest boy in the class.

When the adjective is a long word, the words more and most are used to compare instead of er or est.

Example:-

  • This apple is more delicious than the on I ate yesterday.
  • This is the most delicious I have ever eaten.

Adjectives are used in the following way in daily speaking:-

I went to buy books for th new term at school. A cold wind was blowing outside. After I came back, my mother gave me hot milk and cookies. They were the most delicious cookies I have ever had.
