ii)It helps to support ladder against wall.

iii)It becomes possible to transfer one form of energy to another.

iv)Objects can be piled up without slipping.

v)Breaks of vehicles work due to friction.

vi)It always resists the motion, so extra energy is required to overcome it.

disadvantages:

i)Friction produces heat which damages the moving parts of a machine.

ii)Friction produces wear and tear on the contacting surfaces. This reduces the life of machine parts, tyres and shoe soles.

iii)A lot of energy is wasted in overcoming the friction before an object starts moving.
