 \Large \bf { 1.Prepration \: of \: soil }

  • Ploughing/Tilling
  • Levelling

Ploughing → The process of turning the few inches of the top soil is called ploughing. It is also called tilling. It is done by agricultural implement "plough".

Levelling → It is the process of making the soil even by crunching the big lumps of soil for uniform irrigation.It is done by agricultural implement "leveller".

 \Large \bf { 2. Selection \: and \: sowing \: of \: seeds:}

◆ Firstly the seeds are selected before sowing them , as damaged seeds can cause damage to other seeds.

Sowing → The process of putting seeds into the soil.It is done by agricultural implement "seed drill". It can also be done by hands (called broadcasting).

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

 \Large \bf {3. Adding \: nutrients:}

◆ Nutrients like manure and fertilizers are added to the soil for better crop yield.

Manure → They are organic substances made by the decomposition of dead animals and plants.

Fertilizers → They are inorganic substances made in the factories using chemicals.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

 \Large \bf {4.Irrigation :}

Irrigation → The process of supplying sufficient water required by plants.

Modern methods → Sprinkler system, drip irrigation, furrow irrigation etc.

Traditional methods → Moat, rahat, chain pump etc.

Weeding → The process of removing weeds (unwanted plants) from the field. It can be done by spraying weedicides or cutting it by tool called "trowel".

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

 \Large \bf {6.Harvesting :}

Harvesting → The process of cutting down the matured crops from the field is called harvesting.It can be done by combine or harvester.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

 \Large \bf {7.Post \: Harvesting :}

Post harvesting includes two steps:

Threshing → The process of separating grains from the matured crops is called threshing.It can be done by thresher or combine.

Winnowing → The process of separating grain from chaff is called winnowing.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

 \Large \bf {8. Storage :}

◆ After all these steps, grains are left to dried in sun.

◆ Then,grains are stored in silos and granaries.
