Aligarh movement was a movement started by the Muslims during the British rule.. It was supported by Sir syed Ahmed and Sir beck of British rule..
it was a political plan started by the British to gain the support of Muslims as congress political party was growing bigger.. So British started the divide and rule policy in which they supported mUslims to get their support..
The Muslims were told that since Hinduism was a majority in India, when India would get independent Muslims would be supported so aligarh movement was started to oppose Hindus and protect Islamic rights by getting the help of British as they were the ruling forces then..
