the alimentary canal has the buccal cavity or mouth which contains teeth tongue and salivary glands we ingest food here.then the food goes down through the oesophagus by peristalsis
next the food reaches the stomach which has moucous hydrochloric acid and digestive juice the mucus protects the stomach the hydrochloric acid kills bacteri and digestive jucies help in breakdown of protiens
next comes the small intestine its 7.5 m long digestive juices from liver and pancreas help in digestion of carbohydrates into sugars protiens into amino acids and fats into fatty acids . it also has vill which increases the surface for absorption of food the undigested food goes to the large intestine
next comes the large intestine it is 1.5 m long it absorps the water and salts then the undigested food is egested out of the body by the anus
