alimentary canal is 6-9 m in an average man. It is broadly classified into 6 parts such as:
1. Mouth : It consists of teeth ,tongue,palate,tonsil and different openings such as gullet and glottis.It helps in ingestion of foods.
2. Pharynx : It is also called as throat cavity . It is divided into three parts such as: oropharynx, nasopharynx,and laryngopharynx. It separates the food and air pathways.
3. Oesophagus: It helps in the passage of foods to the stomach through a process called peristalsis.
4. Stomach: It helps in digestion of foods .
5.Small intestine: It helps in digestion of foods and absorption of foods.
6. large intestine: It helps in the absorption of water and salts from the undigested foods before they pass out of the body through anus in the form of faeces.

Enters duodenum through pyloric spincter.Duodenum releases some glands and some digestion occur there and passes through out the small intestine where Villi absorb the nutrients and send to all parts of the body through blood.It is 6-8metere lenght.
Large intestine contain some faecal matter and forcely thrown out from anus
It is 1.5-2 meters and have more surface area compared to small intestine....
Total digestion takes 18hours from mouth to anus...
