Question:
Explain all the body parts that are involved in respiration.
______________________________

Answer:
The body parts involved in the process of respiration are:

❇Nostrils
❇Pharynx
❇Trachea (wind pipe)
❇Bronchi
❇Lungs
❇Bronchioles
❇Alveoli

⭐Air is drawn into the nostrils during the process of breathing. Dust particles and germs are trapped by the hair in the nostrils. This air is warmed by the blood circulating in the nose and is made wet by the mucus present in the nostrils.

⭐The clean, warm and moist air now passes through the pharynx into the windpipe or trachea and then to the lungs through two small tubes called bronchi.

⭐Each bronchus enters a lung. The two lungs are sponge like sacs which fill most of the chest cavity. They are protected by the flexible rib cage.

⭐In the lungs, the bronchi branch out into smaller tubes known as bronchioles.

⭐The lungs have a large surface area. It is composed of millions of tiny air sacs called alveoli where the exchange of gases takes place.

Nostrils➡Pharynx➡Trachea➡Bronchi➡Lungs➡Bronchioles➡ Alveoli
