Simile - it is a figure of speech that uses comparison including words, like, and as.

▪ She is like her mother.

▪ Akbar fought like a lion.

▪ He is as tall as his father.

Metaphor - this is a comparison without like, or as.

▪Marina is heart of Mumbai.

▪ Love is a battlefield.

Personification - we personify or represent a non-human entity as human.

▪ Pride rides on horseback.

▪ Time ran away from him.

▪ The car died in the middle of the road.

▪ Death lays its icy hands upon king.(Death, car, time, and pride are non human and don't posses organs as human, but in the sentence they are given the character of a human, this is called personification.)

Alliteration - the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. (Called as tongue twisters)

▪ She sells sea shells on the sea shore.

▪ Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.

Hyperbole - it exaggerates. We use hyperboles to emphasize the importance or the overstate something. They are used to create a strong and lasting impression.

▪ Since he has been away from home he has gotten as thin as a toothpick. (Thin as toothpick)

▪ Those shoes cost a king’s ransom. (king's ransom)

▪ His grandfather is older than the hills. (Older than the hills)
