In the experiment , of diffusion of two gases namely Ammonia and HCl gas, we observe that:

1. Ammonia being lighter in weight [ Molecular weight=17u] diffuses at a greater speed than HCl gas [molecular weight=36.5 u].

2. So NH3 gas travels a greater distance and after reacting with HCl gas a white dense solid ring called Ammonium Chloride is formed

Chemcial Equation:

NH3+ HCl ----->NH4Cl

Conclusion:

Lighter gases diffuse faster than heavier gases.
