Take a plant with destarched leaves.(Leave it in dark for 24-48 hours).

Insert one half of a leaf into a conical flask containing KOH(KOH absorbs CO2).

Leave it in sunlight.

Test the leaf for starch: Add iodine solution to the leaf. One half will turn blue-black indicating the presence of starch while the other half that was in the conical flask remains green indicating the absence of starch. This proves that CO2 is essential for photosynthesis.
