NaOH is an oxide of Sodium, which is a metal.
So, NaOH is a metallic oxide.

ACTIVITY :-
=> Dilute NaOH powder in water.
=> We will get a solution of NaOH.
=> Now, take a litmus paper possessing blue colour and dip it in the solution. We observe that the colour of the litmus paper remains unchanged.
=> Now, take a litmus paper of red colour and dip it in the NaOH solution. We observe that now, its colour changes from red to blue.
=> Only solutions of substances having basic nature can turn turn red litmus paper to blue.
=> This explains the basicity or basic nature of a metallic oxide which in this case, is NaOH.
