Answer:

The digestive functions of saliva include moistening food, and helping to create a food bolus, so it can be swallowed easily. Saliva contains the enzyme amylase that breaks some starches down into maltose and dextrin. Thus, digestion of food occurs within the mouth, even before food reaches the stomach.

Hope this helps Have a good day

Answer:

Since test tube B has boiled rice which were chewed for 3-5 minutes, the saliva present in mouth has acted upon starch to break down into sugars. ... Boiled rice in test tube A has not been exposed to saliva, so starch is present which is indicated by blue-black colour on addition of iodine solution.
