Johanna Mansfield Sullivan Macy (April 14, 1866 – October 20, 1936), better known as Anne Sullivan, was an American teacher, best known for being the instructor and lifelong companion of Helen Keller.[1] At the age of five, she contracted trachoma, a highly contagious eye disease, which left her blind and without reading or writing skills.[2] She received her education as a student of the Perkins School for the Blind where upon graduation she became a teacher to Keller when she was 20.[2]

Miss.Anne Sullivan was like a ray of hope in helen's life.As helen was suffering from accute congestion of stomach and brain so most of her classes were held in nature.Miss.Sullivan tried to teach her different spelling of words but helen was unable to understand.Slowly she learnt wirds like:tea, sit,up,doll, etc. but she never understood tht what things these are.So one day Miss.Sullivan took her in the garden and put one of her hand under cool flowing water and in another hand she wrote "W-A-T-E-R" abd she understood that every object or thing in this world has its specific name and idenyity.Miss.Sullivan applied this same process for every other word and she was shown able to understand all other words.
So like this way Miss.Sullivan gave helen a mother like support in succeding in life....
