Anther culture means plant regeneration from the haploid microspore cells with the aim of haploid and dihaploid plant production. (1988) the first regenerated whole plants in anther culture of the diploid cultivar of common buckwheat Miyazaki-Zarai. The regenerants were all diploid but their origin was unclear.
