explain any 1 reasons for conflicts between catholics and protestant in northern ireland
Answers
hi,
The conflict was caused by the English moving into Ireland, taking the people’s land, making themselves the landlords of the land the people used to own, building estates on them, forcing the people to support, financially, churches which were not their own, while outlawing Catholicism, and…naming themselves, “The Ascendancy.” You know, “rising” to the top, where they belonged. These people were Protestants, most Irish were Catholics, and, not allowed to practice their religion, speak their language or even play their instruments, which were piled high into bonfires as churches and schools were locked. I don’t remember how many hundreds of years the occupation went on for, but, it was a long, nasty business.
