There were several causes which led to French Revolution. It was the case of series of difficulties faced by the French people. The causes were:
1. The causes of the French revolution can be attributed to several intertwining factors:Cultural: The Enlightenment philosophy desacralized the authority of the monarchy and the Catholic Church, and promoted a new society based on reason instead of traditions.

They were accused of excessive taxes without political and social rights. As a result, they were very unhappy. Economic: as a result of numerous wars. Politics: The Bourbon King of France, Louis XVI, was an extremely autocratic and weak-willed king who lived a life of obscene luxury. This caused great disillusionment among the masses, who at the time lived a life of abject poverty and widespread hunger. Intellectual – The 18th century was marked by a conscious rejection of the "theory of divine rights" by French thinkers.Philosophers like Rousseau rejected the paradigm of absolute monarchy and proclaimed the doctrine of human equality  and the sovereignty of the people. They played a crucial role in exposing the flaws of the old political system, that is, the old regime, and in articulating  popular dissatisfaction.
