During the Lahore session of the Congress in 1929 , a resolution for a nationwide civil disobedience movement was passed .

Gandhiji chose to start the civil disobedience movement by breaking the salt law.

He broke the salt law by picking up a handful of salt from the seashore . This sparked off acts of civil disobedience across the country.

Peasants, women , workers and teenagers took part in this movement.

When Gandhi ji was in jail , the first round table conference was held in London to discuss the Simon commission report.

The Gandhiji -Irwin pact was signed and then the movement was suspended.

When British didn't agree to any of the demands made by Congress in second round table conference, Gandhiji returned to India and resume the CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE MOVEMENT .

Hope that helps....!
