major causes of poverty are as follows :-

1) LACK OF UNEMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: -
due to job seeker is increasing in number at a higher rate than the expansion in employment opportunities.

2) INCREASE RATE IN POPULATION: -
In our country, population is increasing with a rapid speed, as due to that the demand for goods and services are continuously rising.

3) RISING PRICES OF GOODS :-
prices of goods are rising , as as result the persons in lower income group find it difficult to get their minimum needs.

4) SIZE OF FAMILY:-
The larger the size of family, the lower is the per capita income, and the lower is the standard of living.

5) UNEQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF LAND AND OTHER RESOURCES:-
Land and other forms of assets constitute sources of income for the rural people. But, unfortunately, there has been unequal distribution of land and other assets in our economy.
