The challenges faced by the jute industry in India are :
1) Great competition from synthetic industries
2) Jute clothes / products are costlier .
3) Erratic power supply conditions in India .
4) Insufficient productivity of labourers.
5) Less no. of jute mills left in India as most of the jute mills went in Bangladesh ( erstwhile Pakistan ) after separation
