Five anti-poverty schemes of the Indian Government are as follows:-

1.Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana (PMRY)-

  • It was started by in the year 1993.
  • The motive of the programme is to create self-employment opportunities for educated unemployed youth in rural areas and small towns.

2.Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) -

  • It was started in 1995.
  • The mission of the programme is to generate self-employment opportunities in small towns as well as rural areas.

3.Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana(SGSY) -

  • It was launched in 1999.
  • Its motive is to bring the assisted poor families above the poverty line by arranging them in self-help groups with the help of government subsidy and bank credit.

4.Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana(PMGY) -

  • It was launched in the year 2000.
  • Under it, states are provided additional central assistance for basic services such as primary education,primary health, rural electrification etc.

5.Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(MGNREGA)-

  • It was launched in 2005.
  • It aimed at sustainable development to address the cause of draught,soil erosion etc. Under it, one-third of the jobs were reserved for women. It provided employment to 4.78 crore of about 220 crores person days.
  • The wage increased from Rs 65(2006-07) to Rs 132(2013-14).
