The seven years war and several other wars fought by the King Louis sixteenth made the country economically poor. After these wars, the treasury of France became empty. The Finance Minister advised the King Louis sixteenth to impose taxes on every section of the society. But the Queen Marie Antoinette interfered and the King refused to impose taxes and the King terminated his Finance Minister. The debt of France increased rapidly and it almost doubled in just three years, as the new Finance Minister adopted the policy of borrowing the funds to meet the expenditure of royal court and the Queen.
