What are the factors responsible for the formation of Soil?

The soil is one of the important components of the sustainability of an ecosystem because it is the vitally important natural medium for the growth of vegetation. It can be defined as, the upper layer of earth in which plants grow, a black or dark brown material typically consisting of a mixture of organic remains, clay, and rock particles. Here, we are giving brief note on the major factors which are responsible for the formation of the Soil.

Explanation:

FACTORS OF SOIL FORMATION :

Relief, parent rock, climate , vegetation and time are important factors in soil formation. Various forces of nature, such as change in temperature, amount of rainfall, Humidity, action of running water, wind, and activities of decomposers contribute to the Formation of Soil.

• Climate : Rainfall and temperature influence rate of humans and weathering .

• Organisation : i.e :- Microorganisms and vegetation affect the rate of humus formation.

• Relief : Altitude and slope determine the accumulation of Soil.

• Parent Rock : It determines , colour, texture, chemical properties, mineral centent and permeability of Soil.

• Time : It determines thickness of Soil profile.
