Industries cause pollution in many types:

Air pollution

1. It is caused by the presence of high proportion of undesirable gases such as sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as smoke emitted by the industries. 2. For eg, Bhopal Gas Tragedy, killed hundreds of people and adversely affected human health, animals, plants as a whole.

Water pollution

1. The industrial effluents both organic and inorganic discharged into rivers causes water pollution.

2. The main industries that pollute water are paper pulp, textile, chemicals, etc.

Thermal pollution

1. When hot water from factories and thermal plants is drained into rivers and ponds before cooling, it causes thermal pollution of water.

2. Nuclear power plants, nuclear and weapon production facilities causes cancer, birth defects and miscarriages.

Noise pollution

1. It can create hearing impairment, increased heart rate and blood pressure amongother physiological effects.

2. Industrial and construction activities, machinery, factory equipment, generators and pneumatic and electric drills also make a lot of noise.
