During the British rule, a new middle class arose including Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Teachers, Accountants, Clerks and many more.
The reason behind the growth of new middle class in India during British rule are given below :-
1. The British rule needed a fully helpful and workaholic population force. The number of employment opportunities were being provided. Those who became eligible for the same, availed the opportunities and becamea part of new middle class.
2. As the transportation sources increased, people from several places used to come to the center of the cities. Change in the livings due to railway became the reason of rise of new middle class.
3. Soon people started to come in social contact with each other. And the main spots were Town Hall, public parks, cinema halls and many other public places. By this people's mindsets were to be on a change which gave a sufficient scope for the rise of new middle class.
4. Middle class people were from an educated background. When the Indians started protesting British rules, middle class people became more active so as to go against the British government by expressing there views in newspapers, magazines or public meetings.
