→Food Availability : people need good food to survive so it is mandatory to build a settlement near a presence of livestock or near some farms. e.g A place where Cattles could easily be reared.
→Shelter Available : There's should be material available for building shelters. e.g A place where Timber is available.

The basic requirements of a settlement are : Favourable climate, availability of water, suitable land and fertile soil. Example whites settled in America successfully only due presence of natural riches other than only climate,water,an soil. Whereas settling on Mars is a challenge since all 3 factors are absent
