The Treaty of Versailles was the most important of the peace treaties that brought World War I to an end.
The treaty made Germany to pay 2.3 trillion dollars (present day) which equals to 33 billion dollars at that time for causing damages.
The treaty made the German Military weaker. That made the Germans afraid of being unsafe. The War Guilt clause, shattered economy, the lose of territories, the weak military authorities completely changed the mindset of the Germans. Adolf Hitler rose into power making use of that mindset of the people. He had his own propaganda which was helped by the prevailed situation in Germany and thus led to the devastating World War II.
